I’ll do posts like this every week listing my favourite stories from the social news website digg.com, that’s D-I-G-G-DOT-COM.

First up, scientists this week broke technological limits by making a fully working transistor at only a single atom thick. The possibilities for miniturisation of computers through this are huge, and once these are commercially available silicon’s days will be numbered. Where was this breakthrough made? Intel? AMD? IBM? Try the good old University of Manchester!
